School counselors in the classroom
Feb 28 @ 8:00 am – 9:00 am

For school counselors, working in the classroom can be a great way to get to know your students and have them get to know you, but it can be a challenge, especially with middle school students.  Forget the lecture, ditch the videos–we’re going to teach you how to really connect with students thru cool activities and tricks.  Whether you work in an elementary building, middle school or with the big kids, we’ll provide you with a selection of our best and favorite classroom activities and techniques for making important concepts come alive.  Then your problem will be how to deal with all the students at your door wanting to see you and teachers wanting you back in their class!

Note: listed time  for this class is Pacific Coast Time.

What to say to a parent when their kid is on drugs
Apr 17 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

No doubt we’ve all had the experience of having a student’s parent come into our office saying “I just found a bag of marijuana under my kid’s bed!”  And then they turn to us and ask what they should do.  Tough question.  And no one-size-fits-all answer, to be sure, but we can offer you some really useful guidelines for the parent to follow that will help everybody involved.  These practical suggestions stem from 20 years of working with teens on the drug scene–creating lots of stories with happy endings.  We will demonstrate how to use them, and also deliver them to you after the TeleClass in a set of handouts with worksheets that you can make copies of to give to parents.
